BJP trading votes for the bodies of our jawans: Samajwadi Party’s Azam Khan


The daggers are drawn and Opposition parties are leaving no stone unturned to withold the Bharatiya Janata Party from making any political gain for Indias counteroffensive in Pakistan following the Pulwama terror attack. While many Opposition parties have alleged that the BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is politicising the IAFs air strikes in Balakot, Azam Khan, senior leader of Samajwadi Party (SP), on Monday said that the government should stop trading for votes over the blood of our soldiers. The SP leader said that this is the first time that votes are being sought in the name of surgical strikes. It has happened for the first time that a vote is being asked for in the name of the surgical strike. That is, the votes are being counted and the boxes are being filled on the life of the soldiers. This is the first time that the border has become a deal. Uniform, head and blood, all have become a deal. Governments should not be made on these, Khan told news agency ANI. Azam Khan is not new to this either. In April 2014, the SP leader had made another controversial statement on the armed forces. He had said that Hindu brothers should embrace Muslims as it was Muslim soldiers who conquered the Kargil peaks, kicking up a political storm.
